Montaña is a residential area in the east of Willemstad. The district is located approximately 5 kilometers east of the Schottegat, the natural harbor of Willemstad. It is bordered to the north by the district of Groot St. Joris, on the east by the district Fuik, on the south by the districts and Rooi Santu, Jan Sofat and in the west of the district of Santa Rosa.
The district has its own police station and church in Gustavia. The district also has a small shopping center in Hoenderberg called Shopping Center 2000. Furthermore, you will find many mini supermarkets, shops and asian shops along the main roads. There are also found schools as public schools Chema Maduro en Angela Jessurun Simon in Montaña Abou, the Roman Catholic primary school Kolegio San Dominico Montaña Rey and the Roman Catholic continued school (VSBO) and secondary vocational education (SBO) Maris Stella Montaña Rey.
There are two main routes through the north and south of the district around, both from the west named Road to Montaña.  The nearest public beaches are the Caracas Bay (Caracasbaai), Baya Beach and Jan Thiel Bay in Jan Thiel district south of Montaña. These beaches are only through the Southern Road to Montaña and then reach the Caracasbaaiweg. From Montaña you can reach these beaches within 10 to 15 minutes by car (7 to 10 km). In the north of Montaña is in the district of Groot St Joris, there you will find Aloe Vera Plantation Curacao.
